I have been the owner and principle of Stage struck Theatre School Somerset for the last fifteen years. I have two grown up children, Kane, my 26 year son who after finishing drama school with a BA honours in acting is now a working actor living life in London. And a 23 year old daughter, Paris who has danced in competions and shows until she left secondary school. When she has time she helps with the older groups dance choreography. I also have two lovely assistants, Emily and Ellie who help me in all of my classes.
I used to run Street, Hip Hop, Commercial and Pop dance classes in and around Taunton for over 19 years at various local primary schools, where my students would perform at school fetes, village Hall Fetes, Art Festivals and Christmas shows at Bishops Lydeard village Hall. I have now put all of my focus into teaching at Stagestruck Theatre School to ensure that all of the kids get the best out of each lesson.
In my younger years I acted in film, television, theatre, TV commercials and pop videos in England, Italy, Austria, Spain, Japan, Portugal and other countries. I also did modelling with Select models London. I studied acting at the Lee Strasburg school in London before getting married and moving to Taunton where I trained at Bridgewater college and became a fully qualified RSA fitness teacher, teaching exercise to music.
I have full insurance, I am a first Aider which I took with the Red Cross and I hold an enhanced disclosure form which are all kept up to date.
StageStruck Theatre School
It is not just for children who are interested in a career in Performing Arts, but for all children who want to learn new skills in an exciting, dynamic and fun environment.
All of the students are invited to perform in our Summer show held every June at the Tacchi Morris Theatre in Taunton. Our show is with full costumes where they always get to perform to a full house in front of family and friends.
Stagestruck is always being asked to perform at fetes and festivals and we will look into this next year.
Stage Struck provides quality training in performing arts to children aged from 4 to 15 years.
The students will work in their own age groups to ensure that they are given the opportunity to reach their potential in all classes. Classes consist of drama, dance and singing and we aim to make our classes fun!
The sessions are planned so that the children will develop their confidence, communication skills and their ability to work as a team.
Class sizes are restricted to a maximum of twelve per class, to ensure the greatest benefits from training.
The year is divided into three terms which run alongside a normal academic year.
There are no classes during school holidays.
The students are to wear black school daps, trainers or jazz shoes.
Any other type of shoes and bare feet are not acceptable as feet need to be supported properly during all of the classes, long hair must be tied back. During the first term new students are allowed to wear jogging bottoms or leggings and any T-shirt, but from the start of their second term they must wear black leggings or black jogging bottoms and a red Stage Struck T-shirt that is ordered from me .
Disciplined behaviour is important in all walks of life, so Stage Struck educates children in self discipline in an environment of obedience combined with fun. The students are encouraged to respect themselves, their peers and tutors and are given positive encouragement and praised for their efforts and achievements.
